Mark Bardwil is an attorney practicing law in many Western Washington counties with his office located in Downtown Tacoma. Mark spent seven years with the law firm of Hanemann Bateman Jones & Bardwil in Olympia, where he was a partner for four of those years. Upon moving to Tacoma, Mark spent two and a half years as a partner with the law firm of Dolack Hansler Loran Ritchie & Bardwil, PS. Mark's practice is primarily focused on representing the interests of small businesses, corporations, and professionals by handling their formation, maintenance, and litigation needs. He also handles an array of general civil litigation in the areas of construction, real estate, and probate.
Mark has twenty-one years of trial and appellate litigation in various areas of the law ranging from business, real property, probate, administrative to family law and criminal defense in the early years. Over the past fifteen plus years, his practice focus has primarily been on complex business disputes and various related matters, including but not limited to construction, real estate and estate/asset protection cases. His standard caseload has included repeated handling of the following: Business relationship disputes (non-competition, tortious interference, Uniform Trade Secrets Act; operating agreements and
corporate governance); Commercial and residential judicial foreclosures; Commercial and residential evictions; Commercial and residential boundary line, title, and land use disputes; Fraudulent Transfers Act claims. Mark has briefed and argued multiple cases before Washington Court of Appeals Divisions I and II, including successful prosecution and defense of various civil claims. Mark has participated in multiple six and seven figure lawsuits as a sole practitioner, resulting in positive judgments and settlements of six and seven figures cases. He has been a participant in numerous AAA arbitrations and mediations, including cases with out of state jurisdiction. He has also litigated in several counties including Pierce, King, Thurston, Grays Harbor, Lewis, Mason, Kitsap, Kittitas, Chelan, Clark and Pacific. Mark's transactional day to day tasks as business counsel regularly include: Formation of business entities; review of contracts; asset protection counseling, and advising through various day to day
problems and issues. Mark has handled and/or assisted in matters in Colorado, Arizona, Alaska, Florida, Oklahoma, Montana, Texas, Montana, California, Oregon, Maryland, Minnesota, New York and West Virginia.
Mark served on the board of directors of the Thurston County Young Lawyers during the late 1990s. He served as corporate counsel for the Thurston County Drug Court Support Foundation, in addition to being a board member. Mark served as President of the North Slope Historic District for three terms, and sat on the board from 2006-2012. He has sat on the Board of Trustees for the Tacoma Lawn and Tennis Club since 2013, and is currently serving his second term as the President of the club.
Mark moved to Washington from Texas in 1994, where he had earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Texas Tech University in 1990. While at Texas Tech, Mark played varsity football, ran track for the Red Raiders, and was part of a professionally sponsored local "Rock and Roll" band called "The Bogarts".
Mark received his Juris Doctorate from St. Mary’s University School of Law in 1993. During law school, Mark attended the St. Mary’s Institute on World Legal Problems in Innsbruck, Austria, where he studied under a well recognized faculty including a full session course taught by U.S. Chief Justice William Rehnquist. Mark is licensed to practice law both in Texas and in Washington as well as in Federal court.
